According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, in January-February, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$32.16 billion, up 3.5% year on year, exceeding the overall growth rate of foreign trade in the same period by 7.4 percentage points. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$15.92 billion, down 1.8% year on year and China’s imports from Africa were US$16.24 billion, up 9.3% year on year; the trade deficit was US$320 million.
In February, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$18.27 billion, down 9.6% year on year. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$5.43 billion, down 32.4% year on year; China’s imports from Africa were US$7.72 billion, up 18.5% year on year; the trade deficit was US$2.29 billion.
In January-February, the growth rate of China’s trade with Africa was only lower than that with Latin America and the import growth rate was only lower than that of Latin America, too.
