MOFCOM Spokesperson’s Remarks on the U.S. Adding Multiple Chinese Entities to its “Entity List”

Q: We noted that on September 12 EST, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced the addition of multiple Chinese entities to its export control “Entity List.” What is China’s comment?

A: The Chinese side has noted that the U.S. Department of Commerce, overstretching the concept of national security and abusing export controls, has imposed sanctions on multiple Chinese entities in sectors including semiconductors, biotechnology, aerospace, trade and logistics. Under the pretext of safeguarding international order and national security, the U.S. has in fact engaged in unilateralist and bullying practices, placing its own interests above the development rights of other countries, suppressing and containing enterprises from China and other countries, and disrupting their normal business exchanges. The move gravely distorts global markets, undermines the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises, and jeopardizes the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains. The Chinese side firmly opposes this.

From September 14th, China and the United States will hold economic and trade talks in Spain. What is the intention of the U.S. imposing sanctions on Chinese enterprises at this moment? The Chinese side urges the U.S. to immediately correct its wrongdoings and stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese enterprises. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
