In the first three quarters of 2024, China’s trade in services continued to grow. The total import and export of services reached 5.51814 trillion yuan, up 14.5% year-on-year. In breakdown, export was 2.27334 trillion yuan, up 15.3 percent. Import was 3.2448 trillion yuan, up 14 percent. There was a deficit of 971.46 billion yuan in trade in services. The main features were as follows:

Knowledge-intensive service trade continued to grow. In the first three quarters, the import and export of knowledge-intensive services reached 2.13342 trillion yuan, up 5.3 percent. In breakdown, the export of knowledge-intensive services was 1.20631 trillion yuan, up 4.8 percent. The export of personal culture and entertainment services and other business services registered fast growth, up 21.4 percent and 8.7 percent respectively. The import of knowledge-intensive services was 927.11 billion yuan, up 6 percent. The import of personal culture and entertainment services and other business services registered fast growth, up 36.6 percent and 11.5 percent respectively. 

Travel services saw fast growth. In the first three quarters, the import and export of travel services reached 1.50528 trillion yuan, up 42.8 percent year on year, the fastest-growing service trade sector.
