China has noticed that the US government has announced the addition of nine Chinese companies, including Xiaomi and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd., to the so-called “Communist Chinese military companies list”, and would restrict US investors’ trading the securities of these companies. As is known to all, these famous Chinese brands are engaged in home electronics, appliances, and civil aircraft. In imposing restrictions to these companies using the accusation that they support China’s military modernization, the US follows no rule, respects no procedural justice, and goes against basic market economy principles, causing disruption in the international financial market.

These US blames will eventually damage all parties, including the US itself. As all other countries are fighting the pandemic and the world economy is combating downturns, the US, waging protectionism, unilateralism, and bullying, shows no responsibility and will be faced with objections from all other parties.

China firmly opposes the US’s erroneous behavior of abusing national security to launch groundless suppression targeting Chinese enterprises. China will resolutely safeguard the lawful rights and interests of its businesses. We urge the US to withdraw this decision, so as to foster favorable conditions for normal China-US economic and trade cooperation.
