The 8th China-Singapore Investment Promotion Committee (IPC) Meeting Held

On October 13, the 8th China-Singapore Investment Promotion Committee (IPC) meeting was held via videoconference. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, and Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry of Singapore, co-chaired the meeting. The two sides exchanged views on two-way investment, government-to-government cooperation projects and efforts to advance bilateral cooperation.

Wang Wentao said that, under the strategic guidance of both countries’ leaders, the China-Singapore all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership continues to grow. At present, two-way investment between China and Singapore remains vibrant; bilateral cooperation projects such as the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, and the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City are making steady progress; and cooperation in emerging fields keeps expanding. China stands ready to work with Singapore to implement the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue leveraging the role of the IPC, actively conduct multi-tier exchange and dialogue, cultivate new drivers of bilateral cooperation such as the digital economy and green economy, and inject fresh impetus into China-Singapore economic and trade cooperation.

Gan Kim Yong said Singapore and China enjoy close economic and trade ties and a solid foundation for cooperation. It is important to maintain dialogue through the IPC. The Singaporean side is ready to further deepen policy exchanges and practical cooperation with China in emerging fields to create more development opportunities for businesses of both countries. As Singapore will assume the ASEAN rotating presidency next year, it looks forward to working closely with China to further strengthen regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
