China and Cabo Verde Sign Framework Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development

On September 9, Li Chenggang, China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, and António Baptista, Minister of Economy, Trade, Industry and Digital Transition of Cabo Verde, signed the Framework Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development Between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Cabo Verde (hereinafter referred to as the Framework Agreement) in Beijing.

The Framework Agreement stipulates that the two sides will further deepen cooperation in the economic and trade field, jointly strengthen economic resilience and development momentum, focus on sustainable development and inclusive growth, and advance the transformation and upgrading of Cabo Verde’s agriculture and the development of its blue economy and manufacturing sector. This is the 40th framework agreement signed between China and an African country, and represents another concrete action to help African countries share the opportunities of China’s supersized market and broad development prospects. It will provide long-term, stable, and predictable institutional support for deepening China-Cabo Verde trade and investment cooperation.

The two sides jointly confirmed the substantial conclusion of negotiations on the Early Harvest Arrangement of the Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development, and exchanged views on bilateral economic and trade issues of common interest. (Released on September 10)
