The 17th China-ASEAN Expo opened in Nanning, Guangxi Province




On the morning of November 27, the 17th China-ASEAN Expo opened at Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center in Nanning, Guangxi. President Xi Jinping delivered a video speech, and Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, attended and presided over the opening ceremony. Assistant Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang attended the opening ceremony and then accompanied Director Yang Jiechi for a tour of the exhibition halls.

Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Myanmar President Win Myint, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen, Thai Prime Minister Bayu, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Pakistani President Arif Alvi and ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi delivered video speeches. Heads of relevant Chinese ministries and commissions, ambassadors of 10 ASEAN countries and Pakistan to China, diplomatic envoys of other relevant BRI countries, delegations of relevant Chinese provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and heads of centrally-administered enterprises attended the opening ceremony.

The China-ASEAN Expo is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China, the economic and trade departments of 10 ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretariat, and organized by the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The theme of this China-ASEAN Expo is "Building the Belt and Road, Strengthening digital economy cooperation", with Laos as the theme country and Pakistan as the special partner country. For the first time, the expo is held both online and offline. Physical exhibitions are held and the "Cloud CAEXPO" is launched at the same time, including online display platform, online conference and negotiation platform, live marketing promotion platform, cross-border e-commerce service platform, etc. The physical exhibitions mainly serve domestic exhibitors and offices of foreign companies in China, while most of overseas merchants participate in the exhibition and meetings on the cloud. With a physical exhibition area of 104,000 square meters, the expo has set up 5,400 booths in the venue. 1,636 enterprises will participate in the four sections of trade in goods, investment cooperation, advanced technology and trade in services.

During the four-day expo (November 27-30), the event marking the 70th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic ties and Myanmar-China Trade and Economic Forum 2020, the event marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and Thailand -China Trade and Economic Forum 2020, the event marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines and the China-Philippines Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum 2020, the forum for the 10th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, the 2020 China-ASEAN International Cooperation Forum on Petroleum and Chemical Industry and other relevant activities will be held.
