China and Samoa Sign Memorandum of Understanding on E-Commerce Cooperation Between the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labor of the Independent State of Samoa



On October 19th, witnessed by Vice Premier of the State Council Hu Chunhua and Prime Minister of Samoa Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Wang Shouwen and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labor of Samoa Pulotu Lyndon Chu Ling signed the Memorandum of Understanding on E-Commerce Cooperation Between the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labor of the Independent State of Samoa in Apia, the capital of Samoa.

Samoa is one of the first Pacific island countries to establish diplomatic relations with China and has characteristics in the development of fisheries, tourism and service industries. The prospects for the cooperation between the two countries under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative are broad. According to the memorandum, the two sides will establish an e-commerce cooperation mechanism, promote the trade of quality products, enhance the cooperation level of tourism and leisure service industries, create a good cooperation environment for the development of e-commerce in the two countries, and further expand the new channels for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
