On March 2nd, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan attended the Beijing mobilizing and deploying meeting of “promoting a new round of expansion and opening up of service industry, successfully holding the 2019 CIFTIS and advancing the high-quality development of the capital city” and delivered a speech. Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Wang Shouwen attended the meeting.

Zhong Shan pointed out that fully promoting Beijing comprehensive pilots of the expansion and opening up of the service industry and holding the 2019 China Beijing International Fair for Trade in services(CIFTIS) are practical actions to implement the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, which is conducive to promoting the opening up in an all-round way, the formation of a strong domestic market and the high-quality development of economy.

Zhong Shan pointed out that since Beijing comprehensive pilots of the expansion and opening up of the service industry and the work of the CIFTIS were conducted, with the joint efforts of Beijing and the active support of all parties, Beijing has achieved remarkable results. Next, we should take the full promotion of the comprehensive pilots and the development and enhancement of the CIFTIS as opportunities, further intensify reform and innovation, give full play to the opening and pioneering role of the comprehensive pilots and the CIFTIS, serve the country’s major strategies, and enhance the international competitive advantage.

Zhong Shan said that the Ministry of Commerce will work with Beijing and the relevant departments to bring together efforts, fulfill responsibility, focus on key links, summarize and promote experience, and make new progress in the expansion and opening up of Beijing's service industry.

Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee Cai Qi, Deputy Secretary of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Beijing Chen Jining, the relevant responsible comrades of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, the responsible comrades of all committees, offices, bureaus and districts, and the responsible comrades of the related departments of the Ministry of Commerce attended the meeting. The responsible comrades of some departments of the CPC and the State Council also attend the meeting upon invitation.

Beijing’s comprehensive pilots of the expansion and opening up of the service industry began in May 2015. On January 31, 2019, the State Council approved the full promotion plan for the comprehensive pilots, marking that the comprehensive pilots enter into a new phase. The CIFTIS is an international exhibition for China’s trade in service. It has been held for five consecutive sessions since 2012.
