On July 2, 2019, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus jointly held the “Belt and Road” Regional Cooperation and Development Forum in the China-Belarus Industrial Park on the outskirts of Minsk, capital of Belarus.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said in his congratulatory message at the forum that Belarus is among the first group of European countries to actively respond to the Belt and Road Initiative. Themed on “Open Parks and Global Opportunities”, the forum highlights the main idea of the Belt and Road Initiative, that is, the initiative originates from China, but its opportunities and achievements belong to the whole world. Belarus is building the new harmonious city for a new era in the industrial park, making it a common development model for the participating countries of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference He Wei said in a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the forum that the guests from all parties participated in the “Belt and Road” Regional Cooperation and Development Forum in the China-Belarus Industrial Park, and had common consultations on making the industrial park a platform which will promote in-depth and pragmatic progress in the regional cooperation and achieve high-quality common development.
Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a speech. Heads of the Belarusian Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport spoke highly of the cooperation between Belarus and China in the recent development of the Belt and Road Initiative, especially in the development and construction of the China-Belarus Industrial Park and expressed expectation and confidence in further strengthening cooperation in various fields between the two countries. The Ministers of Transport of Latvia and Lithuania also gave positive comments on the joint construction of the Belt and Road with China, which is considered to provide development opportunities for participating countries.
About 800 representatives including officials, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from more than 30 countries including China, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan and Poland and international and regional organizations had in-depth discussion on the international cooperation achievements and prospects of the Belt and Road Initiative, connectivity, innovation and financial cooperation.
On the forum, Vice Minister Qian Keming and Belarusian Minister of Economy Dmitry Krutoi signed the handover certificate for the reconstruction project of the Wusha River of China-Belarus Industrial Park between China and Belarus. Many enterprises from China, Belarus, Germany and Switzerland signed relevant cooperation and investment agreements. In addition, 11 Chinese and foreign companies also obtained the certificate for entering the park issued by the Administration Committee of China-Belarus Industrial Park at the forum, which increased the number of resident enterprises in the park to 55.
