Q: What plans does China currently have to help resolve the dispute between Nexperia’s European headquarters and Wingtech Technology? During recent meetings between Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, did the two sides exchange new ideas or reach any consensus on how to break the deadlock and work to resolve the issue? (MOFCOM Regular Press Conference July 16, 2026)

A: Since China and the Netherlands established an open and pragmatic partnership for comprehensive cooperation more than a decade ago, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has continued to deepen. On July 7, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, visited China. Minister Wang Wentao and Minister Sjoerd Sjoerdsma co-chaired the 18th meeting of the China-Netherlands Joint Economic and Trade Committee, during which the two sides engaged in candid and in-depth exchanges on China-Netherlands and China-EU economic and trade relations. The two sides agreed that the two governments should create a favorable environment, encourage enterprises to resolve disputes through consultation, and ensure the security and stability of the global semiconductor industrial and supply chains.
