A: China believes that the anti-ultra-fast-fashion law and its implementing rules, under the pretext of “environmental protection” and “sustainability”, in fact, discriminatorily restrict and suppress Chinese-invested cross-border e-commerce enterprises by setting clearly targeted standards and parameters, which will seriously distort fair competition. France’s actual practices have gone beyond the scope of environmental protection and are clearly protectionist in nature. China has repeatedly expressed serious concerns to the French side.

I would like to reiterate that China has always opposed the abuse of economic and trade restrictive measures. We urge the French side to face up to China’s position, immediately stop using the anti-ultra-fast-fashion law to infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese-invested enterprises, and properly handle economic and trade differences through equal-footed dialogue. China will closely follow subsequent developments and resolutely take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
