A: In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Kyrgyzstan economic and trade cooperation has maintained steady progress, with positive results achieved in various fields. First, the trade scale has been steadily expanding. China has long been Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partner. In the first seven months of this year, bilateral trade reached USD 11.7 billion, with China’s exports of the “new trio”, namely, electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and PV products, and mechanical and electronic products to Kyrgyzstan growing rapidly, and cooperation in services trade and cross-border e-commerce continuing to advance. Second, investment and economic and technical cooperation have continued to deepen. China is Kyrgyzstan’s largest source of foreign investment. As of the end of July this year, China’s direct investment in Kyrgyzstan across all sectors exceeded USD 2 billion. Major projects in infrastructure, energy, minerals, agriculture, and green development are progressing smoothly. Third, economic and trade negotiations have been effectively advanced. Important progress has been made in the negotiations on the China-Kyrgyzstan services trade and investment agreement. At the same time, China and Kyrgyzstan have actively explored and promoted trade and investment liberalization and facilitation under the China-Central Asia and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) frameworks, contributing to regional economic cooperation.

Over the years, China and Kyrgyzstan have always adhered to mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. The oil refinery built with Chinese investment has made an important contribution to Kyrgyzstan’s energy security. Projects such as photovoltaic power stations, waste-to-energy plants, and sewage treatment plants have enormously facilitated Kyrgyzstan’s green industrial transition. To date, China has built or renovated more than 10 highway projects in Kyrgyzstan, significantly improving local transportation infrastructure and greatly facilitating the travel of local residents and the transportation of goods. Various sectors in Kyrgyzstan have spoken highly of the positive outcomes achieved through China-Kyrgyzstan cooperation in improving people’s livelihoods, creating jobs, and increasing tax revenues.

Going forward, China is ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and continue to promote the high-quality development of China-Kyrgyzstan economic and trade cooperation.
