No agreement reached in the first day 5-hour China-EU textiles negotiation

Holding-up of a large quantity of Chinese textiles by EU Customs was the focus in the first day China-EU textiles negotiation yesterday, officers of EU carried on the technical negotiation for more than 5 hours with officers of MOFCOM on the urgent issue of holding up of a large number of textiles in the ports in 25 countries of European Union. It is reported, the content of yesterday’s negotiation focus on reaching a consensus over the holding-up Chinese textiles but no agreement reached. Today, both sides will continue consultation on this issue in Ministry of Commerce.
About 14:00 yesterday afternoon, expert panel sending by European Union arrived at Ministry of Commerce of China and began to a close-door negotiation with Chinese side.
Last night, Ministry of Commerce issued a statement, saying that in this negotiation, representing Chinese side was Chief of foreign trade department of MOFCOM Lu JianHua, representing EU was Chief of Department of trade relieve of EU Fritz-Harald Wenig
Chinese side expressed concern to holding-up Chinese textiles is not in the interests of EU trader and consumer, no further information was released.
