Increase Rate of Foreign Trade of Gansu Province in the First 2 Months Slowed Down

According to Lanzhou Customs statistics, total import and export of Gansu Province in the first 2 months amounted to US$370 million, up by 9% compared with the same period last year. Of which export was US$170 million and import US$200 million, up by 6.4% and 11.2% respectively. The increase rate of foreign trade of the Province decreased by 10.6% compared with the same period last year. Trade deficit in the first 2 months reached US$39.25 million, tending to be severe.

In Jan. and Feb., total import and export of private enterprises in Gansu was US$44.18 million, up by 10.6% and accounting for 1.8% of total import and export of the Province. Foreign exchange earned through exports was US$36.43 million, up by 18.4%. Import and export by foreign investment enterprises reached US$36.74 million, up by 24.3%, of which export was US$30.03 million, up by 36.2% and ranking No. 1 among all enterprises engaging in foreign trade in Gansu. Meanwhile, state-owned enterprises were still the main force for import and export, value of which amounted to US$280 million, up by 6.7% and accounting for 75.7% of total in the province. And export was US$90.98 million, down by 5.5%.

In the first 2 months, import and export by conventional trade in the Province amounted to US$330 million, up by 18.5% and accounting for 87.5% of total import and export. On the other hand, import and export by processing trade reached US$41.39 million, down by a big margin with a rate of 37.4% and accounting for 11.1% of total.
