In Jan. 2006, total import and export of Gansu Province amounted to US$205 million, up by 19.56% compared with the same period of 2005, of which export was US$98.43 million and import US$107 million.

Import and export by collective enterprises reached US$6.4 million, up by 39.68% on a year-on-year basis and the increase rate was the biggest among various types of enterprises. State-owned enterprises were still the main force of import and export of the Province, hitting US$156 million, up by 28.19% and accounting for 76.19% of total provincial import and export.

Import and export by conventional trade were US$177 million, up by 26.97%, accounting for 86.13% of total import and export of the Province and proportion 5% higher than that in the same period of 2005. Import and export by processing trade were US$27.8 million, decreasing by 13.37% on a year-on-year basis and share down by 5.2% compared with the same period of 2005. It is worth noticing that owing to the national strict macro control policies on metal and metal products like aluminium and nickel which were main export products of Guansu by processing trade, it is extremely urgent to upgrade and transform processing trade and transform foreign trade growth mode.
