| Prices of Production Materials in Fujian Province in the First Half the Year Kept at A Higher Level |

According to data provided by Fujian Provincial Bureau of Commodity Price, in the first half of 2004, prices of production materials in the Province kept at a higher level, but prices of part of sorts fell. Purchase price index of raw material, fuel and power up by 11.6% on a year-on-year basis. Impacted by policy of national macro control and measure of price intervention, prices of part of production material such as steel, cement, non-ferrous metal and fertilizer began to fall after May. In June, according to inspection, prices of construction steel, cement, non-ferrous metal and fertilizer were down by 20.8%, 4.9%, 2.5% and 7.9% respectively compared with those in May which had a higher level price, but were up by 15.1%ã12.9%, 24.4% and 10.9% compared with the same period of last year. Affected by shortage of supply, prices of energy resource like coal and petroleum maintained surging. Prices of coal, diesel oil and gasoline increased by 10.2%, 8.3% and 7.8% respectively over the beginning of this year and up by 31.6%, 14.3% and 16.5% respectively compared with the same period of last year.
