8 Moves of the Sino-Africa Cooperative Forum Beijing Summit Made Progress
The zero-tariff policy granted to commodities under 454 tax items exported to China of 26 least-developed countries of Africa (counted by China’s tariff, refer to appendix 1 and 2 for list of counties and commodities) begins to implement as from Jul 1, 2007, which marks a new important progress of Chinese government in implementing 8 moves of the Sino-Africa Cooperative Forum Beijing Summit.
In the year of 2003, premier Wen Jiabao, on behalf of Chinese government, promised to grant zero-tariff treatment to a part of commodities of the least-developed countries exported to China in the second ministerial meeting of Sino-Africa Cooperative Forum.
In November 2006, in the Sino-Africa Cooperative Forum Beijing Summit, President Hu Jintao declared 8 measures to drive forward Sino-Africa new strategic partnership and enhance tangible cooperation, including expanding zero-tariff commodities exported to China of the 30 least-developed countries that have diplomatic relations with china from 190 tax items to over 440.
Chinese government attaches great importance to the work of implement. The zero-tariff measures will sure to expand Africa countries’ export to China, promote the sound development of Sino-Africa trade, so as to achieve win-win cooperation.
Notes: Commodity tax item may be adjusted in line with tariff of the year.
