Report on trade between Romania and China from January to June, 2020

According to statistics from Romania, from January to June 2020, the trade between Romania and China was US$ 3.05 billion, up 5.9% year-on-year. China was Romania's sixth largest trading partner and the largest trading partner outside the EU. The import of Romania from China reached US$ 2.72 billion, up 7.4% year-on-year. China was the fourth largest source of imports for Romania (the top three countries were Germany, Italy and Hungary), and it was the only country with a positive growth for imports by Romania among Romania’s top ten sources of import. Romania mainly imported mechanical and electrical products, nuclear reactors and boilers, other textiles and optical equipment from China. The export of Romania to China reached US$ 330 million, down 4.7% year-on-year, and China was the 20th export destination of Romania. The main exports were wood products, mechanical and electrical products, nuclear reactors and boilers, optical equipment, etc.

According to Chinese statistics, from January to June 2020, the trade between China and Romania was US$ 3.32 billion, up 0.7% year-on-year, and Romania was China's 65th trading partner. Among them, China exported US$ 2.29 billion of goods to Romania, up 2.6% year-on-year. Romania was the 55th largest export destination for China. The main exports were nuclear reactors and boilers, mechanical and electrical products, other textiles, optical equipment, vehicles and components, etc.; China imported US$ 1.04 billion of goods from Romania, down 3.2% year-on-year. Romania was the 66th largest source of imports for China, mainly importing mechanical and electrical products, stereo systems, optical equipment, nuclear reactors and boilers, vehicles and components, etc.
