Statistics on China-Africa Trade in January-April, 2019

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, in January-April, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$66.04 billion, up 3.3% year on year, exceeding the overall growth rate of foreign trade in the same period by 4.4 percentage points. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$33.29 billion, up 5.6% year on year and China’s imports from Africa were US$32.75 billion, up 1.1% year on year; the trade surplus was US$540 million.

In April, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$18.29 billion, up 5.4% year on year. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$9.33 billion, up 4.4% year on year; China’s imports from Africa were US$8.96 billion, up 6.8% year on year; the trade surplus was US$370 million, down 32.4% year on year.

In January-April, the growth rate of China’s trade with Africa was lower than those with Latin America(9.1%), Oceania(6.6%) and Europe(4.2%).
