Statistics on China-Africa Trade in January-March, 2019

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, in January-March, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$47.61 billion, up 2.2% year on year, exceeding the overall growth rate of foreign trade in the same period by 3.7 percentage points. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$23.96 billion, up 6.1% year on year and China’s imports from Africa were US$23.64 billion, down 1.5% year on year; the trade surplus was US$320 million.

In March, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$15.43 billion, down 0.5% year on year. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$8.05 billion, up 26.3% year on year; China’s imports from Africa were US$7.39 billion, down 19.2% year on year; the trade surplus was US$660 million.

In January-March, the growth rate of China’s trade with Africa was lower than those with Latin America(10%), Oceania(4.4%) and Europe(3.0%).
