Statistics on China-Africa Trade in January 2019

According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, in January 2019, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$18.98 billion, up 14.8% year on year, exceeding the overall growth rate of foreign trade in the same period by 10.8 percentage points. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$10.47 billion, up 27.9% and China’s imports from Africa were US$8.51 billion, up 2.0%; the surplus was US$1.95 billion. China’s trade growth with Africa was only 6.8 percentage points lower than that with Latin America, and the import growth rate is the fourth in the world, 3.5 percentage points higher than the import growth of foreign trade in the same period, following Latin America, Oceania and Europe.
