According to the statistics from the General Administration of China Customs, in January-October, China’s total import and export volume with Africa was US$168.30 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.6%, exceeding the overall growth rate of foreign trade in the same period by 4.6 percentage points. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$86.23 billion, up 11.6% and China’s imports from Africa were US$82.07 billion, up 31.9%; the surplus was US$4.16 billion, down 72.4% year on year.

In October, China’s total imports and exports with Africa were US$17.44 billion, up 27.3% year on year and 2.5% month on month. Among these, China’s exports to Africa were US$8.78 billion, up 17.8% year on year and down 4.8% month on month; China’s imports from Africa were US$8.66 billion, up 40.6% year on year and up 11.2% month on month; the trade surplus was US$120 million, down 90.6% year on year.

In January-October, the growth rate of China’s trade with Africa was only second to that with Latin America. The import growth rate was the highest in the world, 11.7 percentage points higher than the import growth rate of foreign trade in the same period.
