According to the statistics by China Customs, in January-December 2017, the import and export value of China-Africa trade amounted to US$170 billion, up 14.1% year on year, 2.7 percentage points higher than the general increase of foreign trade in the same period. Among these, China’s exports to Africa reached US$94.74 billion, up 2.7%; China’s imports from Africa reached US$75.26 billion, up 32.8%; the trade surplus was US$19.48 billion, down 45.2% year on year.
In December, the import and export value of China-Africa trade amounted to US$15.66 billion, up 9.2% year on year, and up 2.2% month on month. Among these, China’s exports to Africa reached US$9.25 billion, up 10.8% year on year, and 11.9% month on month; China’s imports from Africa reached US$6.41billion, up 8.6% year on year and down 9.1% month on month; the trade deficit was US$2.84 billion, up 16.2% year on year.
In January-December, the growth of China’s trade with Africa was only lower than Oceania and Latin American, and the import growth was remarkable, 16.9 percentage points higher than that over the same period of last year.
