Statistics on China-Korea Economic and Trade Cooperation in 2017

1.Bilateral trade

In 2017, the trade volume between China and Korea was US$ 280.26 billion, an increase of 10.9% year on year, among which China’s exports to Korea totaled US$ 102.75 billion and China’s imports from Korea totaled US$ 177.51 billion, up 9.6% and 11.7% respectively year on year. China is Korea’s largest trade partner and largest import and export market and Korea is China’s third largest trade partner.

2.Korea’s investment in China

In 2017, Korea invested in 1627 projects in China, down 19.4% year on year; the amount of Korean capital that China actually utilized was US$ 3.67 billion, down 22.7% year on year. By the end of 2017, Korea invested in 63385 projects in China and the amount of the actual investment was US$ 72.37. Korea is China’s fourth largest source of foreign investment and the second largest investment destination.

3.China’s investment in Korea

In 2017, China’s non-financial direct investment in Korea was US$ 420 million, down 46.3% year on year. By 2017, China’s non-financial direct investment in Korea accumulated to US$ 4.66 billion.

4.Cooperation on contractual workers

In 2017, the contractual value of the China-Korea newly signed projects was US$ 1.37 billion and the turnover of the accomplished projects was US$ 370 million. The number of all kinds of laborers dispatched to Korea was 2059. By the end of 2017, the contractual projects completed in Korea accumulated to US$ 3.79 billion and the number of laborers in Korea was 11, 000.
