Statistics of FDI in January-December 2012

According to the statistics of news release of foreign investment, from January to December 2012, Newly Approved Foreign-invested Enterprises amounted to 24,925, down by 10.06% year on year; and the actual use of foreign investment reached US$ 111.716 billion, down by 3.7% year on year.

According to the statistics of news release of foreign investment, in December 2012, Newly Approved Foreign-invested Enterprises amounted to 2,422, down by 7.77% year on year; and the actual use of foreign investment reached US$ 11.695 billion, down by 4.47% year on year.

In January-December, 2012, the number of newly established enterprises funded by ten Asian countries/regions (Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, ROK) was 19,890, down by 10.82% year on year, and the actual input were US$ 95.737 billion, down by 4.76% year on year. The number of newly established enterprises funded by US was 1,374, down by 8.22% year on year, and the actual input were US$ 3.13 billion, up by 4.5% year on year. Number of enterprises funded by EU was 1,698, down by 2.58% year on year, and the actual input was US$ 6.107 billion, down by 3.8% year on year.

From January to December this year, the top ten nations and regions with investment in China (as per the actual input of foreign capital) are as follows: Hong Kong (US$ 71.289 billion), Japan (US$ 7.38 billion), Singapore (US$ 6.539 billion), Taiwan Province (US$ 6.183 billion), U.S.A. (US$ 3.13 billion), R.O.K. (US$ 3.066 billion), Germany (US$ 1.471 billion), Holland (US$ 1.144 billion) , U.K. (US$ 1.031 billion), and Swiss Confederation (US$ 878 million), total of which accounted for 91.4% of total actual use of foreign investment in the country.

Note: The figures cover investment in China by the said countries/regions transferred from free ports of Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Samoa, Mauritius and Barbados.
