The office of USTR Robert Lighthizer published a 53-page report on Tuesday, accusing the Chinese government of continued, government-backed theft of intellectual property and technology. According to the report, “China fundamentally has not altered its acts, policies, and practices related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation, and indeed appears to have taken further unreasonable actions in recent months.” What is MOFCOM’s comment?(2018-11-22)

We have taken notice of the report published by the US administration, over which China expresses serious concern.

The Chinese side has underlined repeatedly that Section 301 investigation and relevant trade measures carried out by the US administration are unilateralist, trade protectionist practices based on its domestic law. In these practices, US domestic law overrides international law, the US goes against its commitments to all WTO members and WTO rules are ignored and undermined.

China cannot accept the US’s so-called “update” in the report, which levels new, groundless accusations that go against facts.

We hope the US side could refrain from any statements or actions that undermine bilateral trade and economic ties, adopt a constructive attitude and provide favorable conditions for bringing China-US business relations back onto the right track and for stable world economic growth. Thank you.
