Eighth meeting of China-UAE Joint Economic and Trade Commission held in Abu Dhabi

On February 27, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, and Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, co-chaired the eighth meeting of China-UAE Joint Economic and Trade Commission in Abu Dhabi, exchanging views on implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Wang said this year marks the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between China and the UAE. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership has entered a new stage and economic cooperation and trade has delivered new outcomes. China appreciates the UAE’s efforts to prepare for the MC13 and the UAE is welcome to align with China’s eight steps to support high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. China is ready to work with the UAE to stimulate trade, investment and innovation and create a new pattern of multidimensional business cooperation.

Marri said that with the care and support of the two heads of state, China-UAE relations have come a long way and bilateral economic and trade cooperation has yielded fruitful results. He thanked China for its strong support for the UAE’s hosting the MC13 and firmly believed that the Belt and Road Initiative will promote greater development of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

After the meeting, the two sides signed the minutes of the meeting and a document on investment cooperation in the field of digital economy. Chinese Ambassador to the UAE Zhang Yiming and representatives of relevant departments and enterprises from both sides attended the meeting.
