China-Angola Investment Protection Agreement signed in Beijing

On December 6, Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Angola Tete Antonio signed the Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Angola on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investment on behalf of their respective governments in Beijing.

The signing of the China-Angola Investment Protection Agreement is an important measure to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries. The China-Angola Investment Protection Agreement is a mutually beneficial and high-quality investment agreement that clarifies the investment protection obligations and dispute settlement mechanisms for the two countries. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Angola. The signing of the agreement is expected to bolster investor confidence from both sides, create a more stable, convenient and transparent business environment for enterprises of the two countries, and inject new impetus into the vigorous development of bilateral strategic partnership.

After the signing of the agreement, the two sides will go through their respective domestic procedures to push for its early entry into force and implementation.
