Minister Wang Wentao held a virtual meeting with Abdul Razak Dawood, Advisor to the Pakistan Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment on the afternoon of 30 March.

Wang Wentao, noting that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners, said that under the strategic guidance of the two leaders, bilateral trade and economic ties have been boosted by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and successful implementation of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement and the Phase II Protocol. China remains the largest trading partner for Pakistan, and the bilateral investment and economic technology cooperation have been thriving. Since 2021, the bilateral trade has grown rapidly with sound momentum. China is ready to give full play to the role of bilateral trade and economic cooperation mechanisms, and welcomes more export from Pakistan. China supports business investment in Pakistan, and is willing to share experience in developing industrial parks. China is interested in working with Pakistan on digital economy, e-commerce, and commerce-driven poverty reduction. China is ready to step up cooperation under multilateral frameworks and promote sub-national cooperation, in order to elevate the bilateral commercial relations.

Abdul Dawood said that China is a permanent friend of Pakistan. Pakistan is fully committed to trade and economic relations with China. He expressed hope to leverage the role of bilateral trade and economic cooperation mechanisms, ensure sound implementation of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement and the Phase II Protocol, and promote trade and investment facilitation. He also noted that Pakistan is willing to expand export to China, and welcomes Chinese business to Pakistan for investment. Pakistan is ready to step up cooperation with China on digital economy and e-commerce to elevate the bilateral commercial relations.
