Vice Minister Ren Hongbin Attended the 15th China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection

On December 26th, Vice Minister Ren Hongbin attended and made a keynote speech at the 15th China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection in Beijing.

Ren stressed that China and Japan are major world economies and close neighbors. The two highly complementary economies with inextricably intertwined interests bucked the downward trend and enjoyed hard-won growth in its trade and economic cooperation this year. As the two countries are about to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations, China and Japan must put into action consensus reached between the two leaderships to drive the stable and healthy development of China-Japan economic and trade relations.

Ren made it clear that green and low-carbon development is a challenging systematic project that promises important development opportunities and immense cooperation prospects as well. China and Japan should give a full play to their comparative advantages and contribute to the green development of regional and global economies. The two countries must play the role of responsible major countries in the battle against climate change, improve communication of policies to form synergies for green development, create a fair and just environment and maintain stable and unblocked industrial chains and supply chains, and deepen practical cooperation to realize green development.

The China-Japan Comprehensive Forum on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection was launched in 2006 and co-host by China’s National Development and Reform Commission, China’s Ministry of Commerce, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Japan-China Economic Association.
