Promotion Event Helping Hong Kong Businesses Expand Domestic Sale Successfully Held

On the afternoon of December 17, a promotion event, themed “Hong Kong Businesses Exploring Domestic Market: Cooperation for Business Opportunities”, was successfully held by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), Guangdong Province, and the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) in Dongguan, Guangdong. This event represented a practical measure to implement the guiding principles of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and a concrete step to deepen mainland-Hong-Kong economic and trade cooperation and exchanges, and to support Hong Kong’s integration into China’s overall development.

The promotion event combined on-line and on-site participation. On-site participants include over 200 representatives from Guangdong and Hong Kong businesses, as well as mainland Chinese companies for matchmaking. On-line viewers include more than 1,000 Hong Kong business representatives from Hong Kong and mainland joining live. Assistant Minister of Commerce Ren Hongbin, Deputy Secretary-General Lin Ji of Guangdong Provincial People’s Government, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Yau Tang-wah of Hong Kong SAR (on-line), and Vice Mayor Luo Huanghao of Dongguan attented and spoke at the event.

Assistant Minister Ren said: “Domestic demand on the 1.4 billion-people market means vast opportunities for Hong Kong enterprises. This event will effectively help Hong Kong enterprises get familiar with relevant policies, get onto platforms, and get into the domestic market, so that they can seize the opportunities in fostering a new development paradigm with domestic circulation as the mainstay and domestic and international circulations reinforcing each other.” Deputy Secretary-General Lin said: “Hong Kong businesses are important constituents of Guangdong’s economy. Guangdong will actively and firmly implement policies supporting Hong Kong businesses.” Secretary Yau said: “The central government invests enormous effort in strengthening mainland-Hong Kong economic and trade bonds. Domestic sale policies will be of great help for Hong Kong companies as they explore the mainland market.”

The promotion event, which incorporated introduction to policies and operations, case illustration, and experience sharing, aimed at helping Hong Kong investors understand and utilize mainland supportive policies for domestic sale, so that they could seek, identify, and grasp business opportunities on this platform for mainland-Hong Kong business cooperation and exchange. In the next step, MOFCOM and other co-sponsors of this event will continue to support Hong Kong companies to seize the opportunities, adapt to the dynamics, and make new progress in China’s new journey towards a modern socialist country in all respects.
