The First Session of China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Working Mechanism Held in Beijing

The first session of China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Working Mechanism was held on September 25 in Beijing. Attending were Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming, Deputy Secretary General of National Development and Reform Commission Su Wei, and Japanese Special Advisor to Prime Minister Izumi Hiroto. Themed on “the Reality and Prospects of China-Japan Third-party Market Cooperation”, this meeting aims to implement the important consensus of the two countries’ leaders on carrying out the third-party market cooperation. The two sides fully exchanged views on the direction and policies of third-party market cooperation and the promotion of specific cooperation projects and confirmed that they will work together to successfully hold the First China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Forum in China this year.

Qian Keming said this year marks the 40 anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship. The leaders of the two countries reached an important consensus that China-Japan relations are stepping onto the normal track and facing important opportunities to improve development. China and Japan have strong economic complementarity. Carrying out the third-party market cooperation will not only benefit their own economic development, but also contribute to economic stability and development of the two countries and the world. The two sides should implement the consensus of their leaders, strengthen policy communication and coordination, promote information sharing and financing support, encourage the enterprises of both countries to leverage their respective strengths, cultivate more cooperation projects and implement them. They should jointly promote the third party market cooperation to follow the principle of achieving shared growth through consultation and collaboration, respect the host country’s wishes and achieve the higher-quality and more sustainable development with higher standards.

Su Wei said that the China-Japan third-party market cooperation has great significance and broad prospects. Guided by the consensus of their leaders, the two sides should motivate the enterprises, broaden cooperation fields, expand cooperation methods, consider the concerns of host countries, strengthen communication and coordination between the government departments, and make the third-party market cooperation a highlight in the cooperation between the two countries in the new era.

Izumi Hiroto said that the current China-Japan relations are returning to the normal track. Japan is willing to work with China to implement the consensus of their leaders, jointly promote third-party market cooperation, and explore projects cooperation in more fields in line with the international standards. This will facilitate the expansion of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and will also benefit the development of the third country. Japan expects that positive results will be achieved at the First China-Japan Third-Party Market Cooperation Forum held in China this year.

The delegations of the two sides are composed of representatives from relevant government departments, economic groups and financial institutions.
