Announcement on Levying Tariffs on Goods and Commodity Imports from the US

On September 17, 2018 (local time), the US government announced to impose additional tariffs of 10% on US$200 billion worth of Chinese imports starting from September 24, and the level will increase to 25% starting from January 1, 2019. Disregarding China’s solemn protest and strong opposition, the US’ measures indiscriminately violates the rules of the WTO, seriously infringing the legitimate rights and interests of China according to the rules of the WTO, and threatening China's economic interests and security.

In response to the emergency caused by the US’s violation of its international obligations and in order to safeguard China’s legitimate rights and interests, based on laws and regulations of The Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and the fundamental international principles as well as MOFCOM Announcement No.63 of 2018 and Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council on Imposing Additional Tariffs on Some Goods (the Second Group) Originating in the US ( No.6 of 2018 ), the Chinese government decided to impose additional tariffs on the goods listed in the attachments of MOFCOM Announcement No.63 of 2018 and Announcement No.6 of 2018 of the Customs Tariff Commission starting from 12:01pm, September 24, 2018, including 10% tariffs on goods belong to 2,493 tariff lines in attachment 1 and 1,078 tariff lines in attachment 2, and 5% tariffs on goods belong to 974 tariff lines in attachment 3 and 662 tariff lines in attachment 4.
