Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan Attends the China-UAE Economic Forum

On July 20, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan and the UAE Minister of Economy Sultan Al Mansouri jointly attended the China-UAE Economic Forum held in Abu Dhabi.

Zhong Shan said in his speech that President Xi Jinping’s state visit to the UAE has lifted the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership, further drawing the grand blueprint of China-UAE relationship and clarifying the direction for the development of the bilateral pragmatic cooperation. Both China and the UAE have firmly supported the free global trade and the multilateral system, and opposed trade protectionism and unilateralism. The prospects for cooperation are very broad. Zhong Shan stressed that both sides should firmly implement the important consensuses reached by the two country leaders to jointly promote the Belt and Road construction and further strengthen the cooperation in energy, service industry and high and new technology.

Mansouri said that President Xi Jinping’s visit to UAE has brought the relationship between the two countries to a new historical starting point. The Belt and Road Initiative tallies with the UAE’s development strategy. The UAE would like to constantly promote ahead the comprehensive strategic partnership of the two countries. The UAE hopes to become the key channel of the Belt and Road Initiative’s westward extending and welcomes the Chinese enterprises to invest in the UAE, especially in the fields of scientific and technological innovation, advanced manufacturing industry and infrastructure construction.

Attending were 450 people including the UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence Olama and representatives from the government and business sectors of both China and the UAE.
