BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua)-The member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-Premier of the State Council Liu He met with the Vice-President of the European Commission Katainen on the afternoon of July 16 who came to Beijing to attend the 20th China-EU Summit.

Liu said that the China-EU Summit and China-EU High-level Economic and Trade Dialogue have been held successfully. Next, both sides should implement the fruitful results and consensuses to truly benefit the people and enterprises from both countries. Considering the severe damage caused by unilateralism and trade bullying, China would like to firmly safeguard free trade rules and the multilateral trading system together with the EU, and make the WTO better to keep pace with the times.

Katainen expressed the EU’s same concern over trade, and it would like to strengthen communication and coordination with China to jointly promote the reform of the WTO and safeguard the multilateral trading system.
