Minister Zhong Shan Holds Talks with the Philippine Department of Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez

On September 27, Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan held talks with the Philippine Department of Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez in Beijing. They exchanged views on implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of China and Philippines, strengthening bilateral trade and economic relationship and promoting major cooperation projects. Attending were the Director-General of Philippine National Economic and Development Authority Ernesto Pernia, the secretary of Department of Budget and Management Benjamin Diokno and the ambassador to China Romana and vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Yu Jianhua.

Zhong said that broad consensuses concerning the developing China-Philippines relationship have been reached in several talks between President Xi Jinping and Philippine President Duterte since his successful visit to China. It is hoped that both sides will promptly implement the consensuses reached by the two leaders and promote the docking of the Belt and Road Initiative and Ambition Nation 2040 of Philippines to push forward the trade and economic relationship between China and Philippine.

Zhong put forward three suggestions on implementing the consensuses of the leaders from the two countries. Firstly, the projects under negotiation should be speeded up to constantly gain state achievements. Secondly, multiple financing channels should be used to support the implementation of more projects. Thirdly, cooperation and mutual trust should be strengthened to construct major demonstrative projects and contribute practically to improving the infrastructure construction of Philippines.

Dominguez said that Philippines would like to work with China to implement the two leader’s consensuses and strive to make fresh progress in major cooperation projects. The Philippines appreciates China’s support for its economic and social development and looks forward to seeing the flourish in the China-Philippines trade and economic development and greater achievements.
