The 1st Meeting of Global Steel & Iron Forum Held in Berlin

The 1st meeting of Global Steel & Iron Forum was held in Berlin, Germany on December 16. A total of 33 members from the G20 Group and OECD attended the forum, the Secretariat of OECD also attended as the supporter of the forum. China and Germany who are the Rotating Presidency of G20 in 2017, co-chaired the forum. At the forum, all sides agreed to pass the work duty of the forum and announce the establishment of forum, and exchanged views on the work for the next stage.

It’s an important meeting to implement the consensus reached at the G20 Hangzhou Summit. The Hangzhou Summit has reached consensus on the overcapacity of steel and iron. Leaders also called on to establish a global forum on overcapacity and strengthened information sharing and cooperation. The forum is attended by the G20 countries and OECD members who are interested in it, and is supported by OECD. On November 15, the Chinese side hosted a discussion meeting on establishing a global forum on steel & iron, preparing for the establishment and opening of the forum.
