On the sidelines of the 4th China (Mianyang) Science & Technology City International High-Tech Expo, the Ministry of Commerce and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government jointly held China-U.S. Sub-National Economic & Trade Cooperation Workshop and Hi-Tech Cooperation Seminar on September 20-21. Zhang Xiangchen, Deputy China International Trade Representative, Zhu Hexin, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province and Greene Raymond, Consul General of the American Consulate General at Chengdu attended and addressed the seminar.

At China-U.S. Sub-National Economic & Trade Cooperation Workshop, Zhang Xiangchen said over recent four years, MOFCOM has worked with 25 provinces and cities and 7 US states to establish 7 working groups and positive achievements have been made. Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the US counterparts have signed a MOU on promoting US-China local trade and investment cooperation in December 2015. During the G20 Hangzhou Summit, strengthening US-China local trade and economic cooperation has been listed into the fruits of US-China Leaders’ Meeting. At present, the role of working group is raising, its value is taking effect and the two sides began to discuss new ways to strengthen US-China trade and their economic communication and cooperation. He hoped that all sides could make good use of this platform to seek opportunities and promote cooperation.

At the Hi-Tech Cooperation Seminar, Zhang Xiangchen pointed out that the width, depth and complexity of US-China cooperation is unprecedented. To promote China-U.S. Sub-National economic & trade cooperation will further deepen US-China trade and economic relations and will be conducive to stabilize the US-China ties. He encourages enterprises of both sides to jointly develop new technology, innovate application, expand markets and conduct various forms of cooperation adapting to the different national conditions through this platform.

During the expo, Zhang Xiangchen also surveyed the pavilion of the honor country--the United States, visited the exhibition of China-U.S. Sub-National economic & trade cooperation and attended the opening ceremony of US pavilion together with the governor of Sichuan Province Yin Li and vice governor Zhe Hexin.
