The Pico do Fogo volcano has been erupting in the Cape Verde islands since November 23, 2014, causing a great number of houses destroyed, local communications and power broken and over 1,300 people evacuated.

To help the Cape Verde government cope with the disaster, the Chinese government will provide the Cape Verde government with US$ 0.5 million urgent cash assistance for relocating the victims.
