Wang Yang Co-chairs 25th session of China-U.S. JCCT with U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Trade Representative

The 25th session of the China-U.S. Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) was held on December 16-18 in Chicago, the United States. Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang co-chaired the session with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and Trade Representative Michael Froman. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack attended the session.

Wang said that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relations, and is also an important year for constructing the new pattern of relationship between China and the U.S.. The JCCT should implement the important consensus and achievements reached by President Xi Jinping and President Barack Obama during their meeting in Beijing, and consolidate the favorable development trend of China-U.S. relations, concluding China-U.S. relations this year successfully and laying a solid foundation for trade and economic cooperation next year and in the future. There are more common benefits than disputes between the two countries, and China-U.S. Trade and economic cooperation will enjoy a bright prospect if the two parties respect each other, seek common points while reserving differences, understand and accommodate each other.

The U.S. side said that strengthening U.S.-China economic and trade cooperation is of great importance to the economy of the two countries and the world. The U.S. would like to strengthen cooperation with China on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit, promoting U.S.-China economic and trade relations to a higher level.

During the JCCT, the two sides had in-depth discussions on bilateral economic and trade issues like export control, intellectual property, innovation policies, bilateral investment and competitive policies centered on implementing the consensus reached by the two presidents in Beijing, and also held several forums themed at business, investment, agriculture, tourism and cooperation between cities. Related experts were invited to have discussions on excess production capacity. The two parties strengthened mutual understanding and reached consensus in many areas. The JCCT achievements list was issued by the two parties.
