China International Textile Forum Held in Shanghai

The China International Textile Forum, sponsored by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile and Apparel and Hong Kong Yeh Shen Corporation, supported by the China National Cotton Group Corporation and specially sponsored by Texhong Textile Group Limited, was held in Shanghai on October 21, 2014. Director of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textile and Apparel Jiang Hui, Head of the Economic and Trade Division of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhang Xianbin, President of the China National Cotton Group Corporation Wang Xiang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export Song Jjinbiao, the president of the Indonesian Textile Industries Association and the chairman of the African Cotton and Textile Industrial Federation attended the meeting. About 200 domestic and foreign representatives from the U.S., the UK, India, Japan, Egypt, Bulgaria, Hong Kong and Taiwan attended the forum.

At the forum, the participants made analysis and expectations on the international market and the effect of regional cooperation, and also had discussions on the sustainable development of the textile industry. At the meeting, Jiang made a keynote speech titled Overview and Opinions on China’s Import and Export of Textile and Garment, introducing the trend and features of China’s import and export of textile and garment in January-April, putting forward his thoughts on the development of the textile industry under the current situation. Chairman of Texhong Textile Group Hong Tianzhu shared his opinions on the integration of the industrial chain. Director Zhang Xianbin of the National Development and Reform Commission and Assistant President of the China National Cotton Group Zhang Fangchun introduced national cotton policies and the demand and supply of the year of 2014/15 respectively. The president of the Indonesian Textile Industries Association made comparisons and introductions on the development of textile and garment in Indonesia and ASEAN countries. Deputy General Manager of the Sales Department of the TAL group Zhu Dexiong put forward his opinions on how to increase sales and control inventory of the retail industry. During the panel discussions, the chairman of the African Cotton and Textile Industrial Federation introduced the situation of the cotton production and textile and garment industry in Africa. The Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Marks & Spencer Group and Li & Fund Ltd shared their opinions on “the effect of the sluggish global economy on China’s garment export and domestic retail market”. Adidas, Taiwan New Wide Group and Shanghai Litai and Lectra Corporation made an joint analyze on “the rapid development of the textile and garment industry in emerging countries, and opinions on how to play the role of China’s advantages to further promote competitiveness”. Shanghai Huashen, Indian Aditya Birla Group, Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange and Perry Ellis made an discussion on “the output and demand of textile fiber in the world”.

During the one-day forum, more than 20 guests shared their experience and opinions. The rich content and large amount of information brought heated discussions. China’s textile and garment industry has stepped into a new development stage, and an era of historic opportunities with rapid shuffle and integration. Increasing innovation input, enhancing productivity, carrying out overseas market financing, taking advantage of global resource allocation and comprehensively promoting competitiveness will be the enduring impetus of enterprises.
