In the first eight months of 2023, 33,154 new foreign-invested enterprises were established in China, an increase of 33%. The paid-in FDI in China reached RMB847.17 billion, down by 5.1% year on year.
By industries, paid-in FDI in the manufacturing industry was RMB239.95 billion, up 6.8%. Paid-in FDI in the high-tech industry grew by 19.7%. In breakdown, the actual use of FDI in the electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry and medical equipment and instrument manufacturing industry increased by 39.7% and 25.6% respectively. Among high-tech service industries, the actual use of FDI in R&D and design services increased by 57.1%.
By sources, paid-in FDI from the UK, Canada, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany increased by 132.6%, 111.2%, 105.6%, 59.2%, 25.3% and 20.8% (investment via the free ports included).
