Head of the Department of Outward Investment and Economic Cooperation of MOFCOM on China's Outward Investment and Cooperation in the First Half of 2022

From January to June 2022, China’s non-financial ODI stood at RMB351.67 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.8% (equivalent to USD54.24 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%). Among them, investment in leasing and business services was USD17.81 billion, up 9.5% year-on-year, and investment in wholesale and retail, manufacturing, construction, scientific research and technical services all showed an increasing trend. Non-financial ODI in BRI countries reached USD10.03 billion, up 4.7% year-on-year, accounting for 18.5% of the total amount in the same period, up 0.7 percentage point from the same period last year.

From January to June, the turnover of foreign contracted projects amounted to RMB458 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.2% (equivalent to USD70.64 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4%); The value of newly-signed contracts stood at RMB671.56 billion, down 6.1% year-on-year (equivalent to USD103.58 billion, down 6.2% year-on-year). The turnover of contracted projects in BRI countries was USD38.4 billion, and the value of newly signed contracts amounted to USD52.21 billion, accounting for 54.4% and 50.4% of the total respectively.
