MOFCOM Spokesperson Makes Comments as is Required

Q: It’s reported that the US Trade Representatives’ Office is considering to levy additional tariffs on US$100 billion of Chinese products. What are your comments?

A: We have noticed the US statement. The Chinese stand is very clear on Sino-US trade and economic issues. We don’t want a trade war but we are not afraid it.

We’ll keep keen eyes on the US. If it insists in unilateralism and trade protectionism irrespective of China and the international community, China will resolutely fight back, take new measures at any cost to defend the interest of our country and its people.

The trade conflict was provoked by the US unilaterally, and it’s unilateralism versus multilateralism, protectionism versus free trade in nature. The Chinese side will continue to expand reform and opening-up, safeguard the multilateral trading system and promote global trade and investment liberalization and facilitation.
