The farmers of Shaanxi, Ningxia and Henan provinces are facing difficulties in selling their agricultural products. Aiming at solving these successive problems, the “Third Winter Online Contact Meeting for Trade of Agricultural Products” which the Ministry of Commerce planned to hold from December 22, 2008 to January 16, 2009 will open ahead of schedule on December 12. Using the New Countryside Commercial Website, special end-to-end services will be offered for selling the agricultural products which are especially hard to sell such as the apples of Shaanxi province, the potatoes of Ningxia autonomous region and the celery cabbages of Henan province. This action will promote both purchase and sale and the difficult situation will be relieved.

Since 2006, when the Ministry of Commerce started to build the project of countryside commercial information services, the Ministry of Commerce has been offering the end-to-end services to the farmers, and have helped them sell over 7.9 million tons of agricultural products with a total turnover of 18 billion yuan, relying on the New Countryside Commercial Website and through the utilization of information-based measures. The act has performed quite a positive function by both accelerating the circulation of agricultural products and increasing farmers’ incomes.

The department-in-charge of the Ministry of Commerce will collect and check the supply and demand information released an the meeting. The coordinators of the New Country Commercial Website of the Ministry of Commerce will help the buyers and sellers communicate with each other through such methods as telephone, E-mails, faxes and short messages resulting in deals being promoted.
