Food exports have shown a sign of recovery during the 105th Session of Canton Fair.

Wang Hong, a member of the Shandong delegate group of the fair, told reporters that some grain and oil exporting companies have reported good results at the fair and the exports of some enterprises have risen.

According to Wang Peijun, president of the Weihai Dongwang Food Co Ltd, the company has seen profits rise since the first three months this year.

Dongwang is engaged in production of quality biscuits, cookies and leisure snacks. Wang is confident the products could reach the level of some top brands like Kraft and Want Want.

The president said the company, set up only three years ago, has exported products to Japan and South Korea. Through last autumn session of Canton Fair, it explored US market.

Its 2007 exports hit 30 million yuan, and during the first half of 2008 the figure surged to 40 million. But business tumbled since the melamine incident last September, but hope has reemerged this year, Wang said.

Shandong Feida Group was also very hot during the fair. Zhang Chonghua, a company delegate, told reporter that only the first day, the fragrance, seasoning and dehydrated vegetable producer met with some 100 clients.

Its seasoning products have been adopted by top brands like Master Kong and exported to African markets.

During the 103th session Canton Fair two years ago, it showcased a high value-added agricultural product and the exports jumped from $1 million to $3 million within two years.

After a Sudan IV tainted food incident several years ago, sales of lyochromes produced by the firm, which has passed the ISO9001, 14000 accreditations, has grew rapidly. It is predicted that the total exports of the food company could exceed $10 million this year, Zhang said.
