联合国20日发布了《2008创新经济报告》，这是联合国第一份关于这一新兴领域的研究报告。 该报告指出，创新产业是全球贸易中最具活力的产业之一。2000年到2005年间，全球与创新产业有关的商品和服务贸易额年均增长8.7%。2005年，创新产品和服务的全球出口额总计为4244亿美元，占全球贸易额的3.4%。 报告说，虽然现在还没有一个统一的“创新经济”或“创新产业”的定义，但是其都具有一个本质特征“创造力”，它能带来技术上的进步，并且使企业和国家经济具有竞争优势。 这份报告提到的创新产业所涉及的领域包括文化遗产、视觉和表演艺术、出版业、纸质媒体、新媒体、设计以及包括广告业和建筑业在内的创新服务业。 报告还认为，一些发展中国家，特别是亚洲的发展中国家，已经开始受益于全球创新经济的发展活力并制定了扶持创新产业的政策。 报告同时指出，中国在全球创新经济发展中居领先地位，到2005年已经发展成为全球领先的增值创新产品的生产者和出口者。 |
