He was accompanied by Liu Shanzai, who is vice director of the fair organizing committee and former vice minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as a member of the Overseas Chinese Committee of the National People's Congress. At the exhibition area for import commodities, Zhu examined a number of world famous products, including luxury cars by Germany's Volkswagen, massage bath tubs with audio and video equipment presented by CASSIOPEIA and fully automatic washing machines from CANDY, both from Italy. "It is the first time that you have participated in such a fair and I would like to advise you to regard the fair as an opportunity to test your products on the Chinese market," said Zhu. "I hope you will all continue to bring more excellent products to the future sessions of Canton Fair and achieve new success," Zhu added. Apart from the International Pavilion, Zhu also visited the stands showcasing construction materials, home electronic appliances, electronic and information products and mechanical equipment. In addition, he also spoke with many exhibitors about their enterprises'brands, product quality, prices and marketing. At the Guangzhou Wanbao Group exhibition booth, Zhu encouraged the company to keep working hard. "Reform should continue simultaneously with self-innovation," he advised. "Chinese manufacturers are encouraged to apply for more patents." Other officials accompanying Zhu on his tour of Pazhou Hall included Wang Junwen, Canton Fair vice director and secretary general, Wang Runsheng, fair vice director, as well as Mu Xinhai and Ren Xiangdong, both deputy secretaries general of the fair.
