| Jiangsu delegation prepares well for fair |

By Jonathan Yeung The Jiangsu trade delegation has made intensive preparations for this year's Canton Fair, by actively implementing scientific development concepts and concentrating on changing the mode of foreign trade growth, while pushing for a harmonious and balanced development of the same. The group has strived to focus on the following areas in the days prior to the fair: Optimize the structure of exhibiting enterprises and facilitate the construction of export brands and bases. The Jiangsu trade group has 2,442 exhibition stands in this year's fair, accounting for 7.92 percent of the total. To optimize the exhibiting enterprises'structure, the Jiangsu group selected 1,056 enterprises to take part in this session of the Canton Fair, with as many as 133 making their debuts. The group also handed out a few "favors" when allocating exhibiting counters, especially to export bases and industries with local characteristics. As many as 189 enterprises engaged in industries with local characteristics are participating in the fair and were granted 219 exhibition counters. The group also offered special benefits to products of famous brands and enterprises, reserving 433 stands for products of famous brands, accounting for 17.73 percent of its total. Renovate counters attentively and fully showcase brand image. The Jiangsu group has 1,084 specially decorated exhibition counters at the fair, which is 44.41 percent of the group's total. In addition, representative groups from Nantong, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou, Huai'an and Yancheng redecorated 188.5 exhibition counters in the exhibition areas for garments, textiles, tools, daily products and toys. To demonstrate and promote new products and increase total export volume, five enterprises with the group applied for eight production demonstration counters. «± Give full play to role of the platform and facilitate import growth. An import exhibition area was established for the first time in this year's Canton fair. Hence, the Jiangsu group invited more than 100 enterprises with yearly import value above $1 million, and around 500 procuring agents, to participate in the event. Meanwhile, the group also arranged for eight local enterprises, which are inviting international bids, to take part in trade talks in the import exhibition area and get direct and comprehensive information on the latest products and technologies. Step up efforts to protect intellectual property rights. The Jiangsu group held seminars on intellectual property rights protection and conveyed their "opinions on strengthening intellectual property rights protection in the 101st Canton Fair" before drawing up a concrete work plan to safeguard such rights.
